A Message from the Overseer |
Too much of what we see today in the media is degrading ̶̶
pimps and 'hos; stories with little or no plot
surrounded by multi-million dollar special effects; and
fewer and fewer stories dealing with Christ, his life, the
difference he has made and can make. As a ministry, we
are bringing forth stories that will remind us of His saving
grace ̶̶ stories,
directly and indirectly, about His life. Stories of
light and hope. Stories that make us feel and hope
again. Stories that remind us to pray and remember
that we are born of faith, rescued and redeemed through His
atonement, blood and sacrifice.Fewer things have greater
influence on our youth today than movies and movie stars,
yet little is being done to countermand this influence with
positive role models. Just like the Oscar's, Emmy's
and People's Choice ceremonies, in the near future we will
present our own awards (the Belcro's) for best picture, best
actor, music, drama and so forth. Although the
Christian Book Association recognizes excellence in the
Christian publishing world, there is no similar recognition
for the film industry. We hope to fill that need.
In addition, it is our intention to begin
screenplay contests where the winner will have their movie
made into a film; publishing contests to get new writers
published; and creation of scholarships to send young people
to film school. We believe that films are today's
pulpit and we need to light the screens of movie theatres
and televisions with superheroes of faith.
All these program require more resources than the
ministry currently has. We need your help to achieve
these goals. Our Member5+5
program is designed to capitalize on the resources we do
have. I encourage all who share this vision to become
a member of the ministry, donate $5.00 and
refer 5 friends or family members to this website.
In this way, we will gather the support we need to further
the development of quality entertainment for families with
Christian values
Sincerely,
The Office of the Presiding Overseer |
